What is Acupuncture Yin, Yang and Qi Vital Energy About

Most have heard the terms yin, yang, qi and vital energy being tossed about. Succinctly, here’s what that’s all about.

In traditional Chinese medicine, your body is seen as a delicate balance between two forces. These opposing, but inseparable forces are yin and yang. The concept of yin and yang is that although the two forces are opposing, they complement each other as well.

Yin represents cold, slow, or passive aspects of an individual. While Yang represents that same person’s hot, excited, or active aspects.

The theory is that peak health is achieved through balancing yin and yang and disease is caused by an imbalance. When yin and yang are out of balance, that condition leads to a blockage in the flow of Qi, or vital energy.

Therefore, good health is achieved by maintenance of your body in a yin/yang “balanced state”. It bears repeating, when yin and yang are out of balance, disease is the result.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, Qi can be unblocked by using acupuncture at certain points on your body that connect with yin & yang pathways, also known as meridians.

Acupuncture’s Yin, Yang, and Qi concept is as simple as blockage relief for vital energy flow. Read “Acupuncture Points and Needles Pain Relief” for further info.
