Prevention of Lack of Sexual Interest and Desire for Sex

The key to most issues in life is taking preventive measures from the start. Prevention of lack of sexual interest and desire for sex is no exception.

One good way to prevent inhibited sexual desire (ISD) is to set aside time for nonsexual intimacy.  You should reserve time each week for talking, and for a date alone, without the kids.  This keeps a closer relationship, and will more likely lead to the feelings of sexual interest.

Be sure to separate sex and affection, so that that affection will not always be seen as an invitation for sex.

Other methods for encouraging sexual desire:

  • reading books or taking courses in couple’s communication
  • reading books about massage can encourage feelings of closeness
  • reading novels or watching movies with romantic or sexual content

Regularly setting aside “prime time,” before exhaustion sets in, for both talking and sexual intimacy, will improve closeness and sexual desire.
