Palsy is defined as a health condition marked by complete or partial muscle paralysis. It may occur with the loss of sensation, paresthesia or tremors.

- Erb palsy
- Bell’s palsy
- cerebral palsy
- Klumpke palsy
- laryngeal palsy
- ulnar nerve Palsy
- brachial plexus palsy
- progressive supranuclear palsy
Parkinson’s disease is sometimes referred to as shaking palsy.
A common cause of palsy is some type of nerve damage or neurological disorder. This damage may be associated with:
- inflammation
- nerve compression
- trauma ~ bone fracture
- tumor pressing on nerve
- health conditions ~ diabetes, sarcoidosis
- infection ~ herpes, Lyme disease, mono, mumps, HIV, meningitis
Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder caused by damage, i.e. intracranial lesions, to certain parts of a developing brain.
