How to Get Rid Of, Remove and Prevent Stretch Marks (Striae)
Striae, commonly referred to as stretch marks, are those undesirable looking irregular areas of your skin that look like bands, stripes, or lines. They usually start out looking like red glossy streaks, and then in time change to a more whitish scarish appearance. Its not uncommon for your stretch marks to be slightly depressed and feel different than the rest of your skin areas.
Almost out of nowhere, those unattractive striae may show up on your breasts, hips, thighs, buttocks or abdomen. Stretch marks are usually caused by a “too rapid” stretching of the skin. Quick weight gain, such as pregnancy or obesity, are typical creators.
However, there are other less well known causes of stretch marks, such as abnormal collagen formation, overuse of cortisone creams, diabetes or Cushing’s disease.
Oh, now for the part about of getting rid or removing stretch marks. Step one is prevent the preventable. Avoid rapid weight gain to avoid those dreaded stretch marks.
Some pregnant women will get them regardless. But don’t use pregnancy as an excuse for additional rapid weight gain beyond your unborn child’s nutritional requirements.
The best and surest way to get rid of or remove stretch marks is to shed that excess weight gain and your stretch marks may disappear once their cause for stretching vanishes.
