Nausea, vomiting or throwing up, and upset stomach are common and usually not serious. You should see a doctor for immediate medical treatment if:
- blood in vomit
- signs of dehydration
- severe abdominal pain
- headache and stiff neck
- vomit for longer than 24 hours
Otherwise, home care treatment during your body’s vomiting period is to avoid solid foods until it has stopped for at least six hours. Then slowly work your way back to a normal “healthy” diet. Also, be sure to sip small amounts of clear liquids throughout this stomach upset period in your effort to avoid dehydration.
