Causes for Between Periods Bleeding Metrorrhagia, Irregular Menstrual Bleeding Between Period
Are you bleeding or spotting between periods? Bleeding between your period, or metrorrhagia, may indicate that some sort of health issue is at hand.
First consideration is to confirm the source of bleeding is actually from your vagina. Because wiped blood can come from rectum or urinary tract as well.
Irregular bleeding between periods is not necessarily unusual if you’ve only started menstruating recently, as your cycle may not be established yet. Or the flow of your menstrual cycle bleeding may become irregular during the period leading up to menopause.
Notwithstanding, metrorrhagia bleeding is considered abnormal when:
- bleeding between period
- bleeding after intercourse
- bleeding post menopause
- bleeding longer than usual
- bleeding heavier than normal
- spotting anytime within menstrual cycle
Your out of the ordinary menstrual flow should not be based on a comparison to another’s menstrual cycle. Only assess irregular menstrual bleeding as it relates to your own menstruation history.
The causes for your irregular menstrual bleeding may involve:
- stress
- IUD use
- vaginitis
- cervicitis
- ovulation
- miscarriage
- ovarian cyst
- genital warts
- varicose veins
- endometriosis
- uterine polyps
- uterine fibroids
- hypothyroidism
- vaginal dryness
- vaginal infection
- egg implantation
- ectopic pregnancy
- hormone level change
- pregnancy complication
- endometrial hyperplasia
- starting, stopping birth control pills
- taking anticoagulants, blood thinners
- commencing, discontinuing estrogen therapy
- ovarian, cervical, uterine, fallopian tube cancers
Some of these causes for bleeding between periods may only cause you a scant discharge of blood. Take heed of the fact and not the volume.
Unfortunately, the extent of bleeding attributable to a cause can vary. As with any health issue, familiarize yourself with any accompanying symptoms. Especially causers in the cancer realm.
Because occasional spotting between a period happens to many women without a cause for concern, running off to your female health care site every time may not be practical. What is necessary is to reach out without delay whenever it is unusual for you.
Since your risk of reproductive related cancer increases with age, it is especially challenging to differentiate between perimenopausal changes or something else at work. A health care assessment of the possible cause is highly recommended.
