If you are overweight and sedentary, then you are at a high risk for diabetes.
If you have diabetes, then you have to actively maintain your blood’s glucose level. Your body will no longer automatically do this for you. And that’s not easy. Not only this, but there are additional health conditions, issues and problems that come right along with it.
Here is the long list of health consequences of diabetes, and hopefully this will be enough to get you moving, eating healthier and losing some of your extra weight:
- stroke
- blindness
- hypertension
- heart disease
- gastroparesis
- kidney disease
- periodontal disease
- diabetic ketoacidosis
- more susceptible to other illnesses
- more likely to die with pneumonia, influenza
- diabetic nerve disease major cause of amputations
- birth defects, spontaneous abortions, excessively large fetus
- biochemical imbalances causing acute life-threatening event, coma
- nervous system damage ~ neuropathy, slowed digestion, carpal tunnel syndrome
If you are overeating and under moving, all these future conditions, issues and problems may become part of your life. Once you have diabetes it is too late to take it back.
Prevent the preventable by walking down that healthier lifestyle road. And kick high fructose corn syrup out of your diet.
